Multifunction Color Laser Printer

By

The multifunction color laser printer is here! It all started with black and white multifunction laser printers. Businesses went crazy for these machines. People gained the capability to go about printing, copying, scanning, and even faxing documents. These printers were made to print papers out fast with the capability to print out thousands of sheets every day; you really don’t need those thousands dollar, 400 pound printers placed in your office or home.

After the launch of these printers, companies started developing an even better brand of multifunction printers. They developed laser printers with the capability to print in color.

It’s Finally Here

It has been a long time coming. When the first line of color laser (multifunction) printers came out, businesses simply ate them up. It was great to have a printer that could do four different things at once, but the fact that they would only do it in black and white really dulled down the printing material. With the upgrade to color printers, people could stop relying on finding another source to accommodate their color printing needs.

This section isn’t placed to discourage you from purchasing these type of printers. They are awesome printers. I had one, and would still be using it if I didn’t sell my office and everything inside it. I do intend on buying another one though. Nevertheless, when buying something you should have a clear perspective of what to expect. You should know what you want, up to the last detail, so do consider the following:

  • Multifunction Printer Fax Functions – when considering a printer that can do four things at once, you really need to look into what each of the functions have to offer. You should take into account the fact that since there is so much jam packed into this printer, the quality of each function won’t be as good as if you had four stand alone products. You should look into what features are included in the fax machine portion of the printer and make sure it meets your standards.
  • Consider the Multifunction Printers Memory Size – you don’t want to buy a printer that can’t hold your daily or weekly work load. This is a big waste of time. Most of the time, the memory is not a problem for businesses, because usually if the price is right for a business, the features and capability it holds will go along. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look into it. Checkout a wide variety of these type of printers and see the norm in today’s technology. You should know that your average printer should hold at least 16mb. In addition, the more memory, the more expensive the printer will be.
  • Multifunction Printer Speed – I never had a problem with this, and most people don’t, but if you control an in demand/very busy environment that uses printing machines every minute of the day, the speed of a printer can make or break you schedules. If you have a consistent load of printing at certain periods throughout the day, make sure to look for printers that will be able to handle your work load.
  • Test It Before You Buy It – Even though it is best if you purchase your printer online, simply because you can find a better deal online, it really wouldn't hurt if you visited your local stores once or twice and checked out the multifunction color laser printers they had on display. If possible, test them out. This isn’t a necessary step. Usually it’s more than enough to simply look at a few picks and get accurate specs of the machine from the internet.

Which Printer Should You Buy?

I will go ahead and recommend the most popular color laser printers with multifunction capability, but of course, you should definitely take a look at each printer, and other printers and see which one best fits your needs. Note: A good printer of this type runs at $400-$600.

  1. Brother MFC-9450CDN
  2. Dell Multifunction Color Laser Printer 3115cn
  3. Samsung CLX-6210FX
  4. HP Multifunction Laserjets (wide variety, check them all out)
  5. Brother MFC -9440CN

If anything, stick to the above mentioned companies at the very least (HP, Dell, Samsung, Brother). Not that I’m saying there aren’t other great companies out there. It’s just, the above mentioned are the ones on top of the market when it comes to a multifunction color laser printer. And that only means, they are doing something right, which entails, they most likely have the best product line.
